Hands-on healing with Melissa Long
Healing can be defined as a “a flow of beneficial energy from healer to recipient.” Hands-on healing is a completely natural and holistic approach designed to bring the mind, body and emotions into balance.
I have been practising healing as a member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (NFSH) since qualifying in 1999. The NFSH is the largest professional healing organisation in the UK.

There has been much research on how spiritual and hands-on healing improves health. For example a controlled medical study was carried out involving 200 NHS outpatients who each received five weekly sessions of healing. The results published by the European Journal of Integrative Medicine volume 9 in January 2017 were summed up as follows:
The main quantitative paper reports that the patients benefited physically; their symptoms reduced. It also identifies that their quality of life was enhanced; they felt better in themselves and were more able to lead a normal life. Whether measured by score improvements, effect sizes or statistics, results revealed significant improvements regarding symptoms and well being. Improvements were found to be long-lasting and may have continued beyond the period of study.
In addition, the researchers confirmed that the level of these improvements were substantially more than could be expected from a placebo. The researchers concluded that the study should be conducted to investigate whether adding healing to conventional healthcare would reduce NHS expenditure.
The patient will be asked to lie down on a healing couch fully clothed whilst I lay hands on various parts of the body either with or without contact depending upon the needs of the patient. It is a very intuitive process and although I will ask if there are any areas requiring specific attention I am usually well guided as to where I need to go on the body.
